THE MOB (U15s)
Match Report - 18th September 2022 - “Northern Nuts are Hard to Crack“
Old Brodleians 14 : Lincoln 42

By Robin Mapleston

With Pre-season done!… we were back in the thick of it. Ripping up the hallowed green turf of the ‘Gladiatorial Rugby Arena’….
And true to battles of Maximums Meridius. The Northern boys of Old Brodleians gave the Mob a cracking first test.

Once you head north of Sheffield, the essence of Rugby League is built into their DNA… Running lines, hunting in packs and tackling like their life depended on it!
14-12 the score around the 1/4 mark…. The Mob needed to step up!

Fighting fire with fire is not always the answer. Instead, find their weaknesses and hit them harder!
Our rucks, a step up from the pre season game against Kesteven, now overloaded Old Brods. Wearing them down where once they were strong… and letting fly from all angles.

A class act from Finn D - commanding every breakdown, and setting up Rookie #1 : Luke for the try of the match (catching in the line out to pop back down the exciting new hooker to drive over from 5yrds).
Skills, thrills and tries from Carty and Kenzie causing havoc with their speed and Rookie #2 : Manny, also crossing for his first try.

Harry Taylor reaped the rewards of a summer of hard work with a cracking performance in his new role of Scrum Half, whilst a number of other players began their journey in new and exciting positions for this season.

The big lads of Market Rasen await on Sunday. Old Brods gave us the perfect set up for the next Colosseum battle.
