The club’s stars of the future continued their development at an inter club Men’s Under-23’s match on Saturday.
The two teams were made up of players from Lincoln’s Colts between 2021 and 2025 and the match encouraged connection and reconnection, as well as giving the Colts their first experience of senior rugby.
The match was played as a curtain raiser for the 1st XV’s home match against Spalding and it highlighted both the strength and hard work in the club’s youth section.
Both teams played in great spirits with the score ending 38-19 in favour of the young Colts from last year. Ernie Oversby, Stan Matthews and Toby Barrett were among the try scorers, while players including Harry Briggs, Alistair Seaward and OIlie Lawton were playing up in their first men’s game.
Lincoln’s Director of Age Grade Rugby Chris Briggs said: “Too many players leave rugby between Colts and Seniors for a number of reasons. Keeping those players connected is vital if clubs want to grow.
“Overall, we had 37 players with only eight or nine having played senior rugby previously. That’s a lot of players that we have access to that were under the radar.”
“Ideas on their own are easy, but turning ideas into reality takes teamwork and graft, and on Saturday we did it.
“Hopefully we have started a club tradition that will be continued for a long time to come.”
