Results may not have gone their way on Sunday afternoon, but the whole Lincoln Touch squad never gave up and played with great spirit in the fifth round of the Eastern Regional Development tournament in St Ives.
It was the last round of the winter series of tournaments and Lincoln's opening match ended in a 3-1 defeat against Nomads. Lincoln's try was scored by Rob Smith after assists by Ed Morton and Emily Gourlay.
The second match against Bishop Stortford ended in the same scoreline, with captain for the day Gail Hunter assisting a try for Flynn Smith.
Unfortunately 3-1 defeats were becoming something of a bad omen for Lincoln with the third match ended with the same score as the opening two fixtures, but this time against Essex. Lincoln's try was scored by Maksim Lema after an assist by Rob Smith in a tough, fast-paced game in wet conditions.
Lincoln lost a really tight match 1-0 against Royston before ending the tournament with a 4-1 defeat against Nottingham. Lincoln's try came after Emily Gourlay set up Flynn Smith to break clear for a great score.
The tournament also saw Lincoln give debuts to two new players - Will Bayes-Green and Pablo Juarez.
Lincoln finished in mid-table overall at the end of the winter series of tournaments. They will now wait to find out their opponents for the National Development Touch Series due to take place this summer.
After the tournament Lincoln Touch captain Gail Hunter said: "It was another great tournament for Lincoln with a full team out, with two new players.
"Our defence was strong thorughout the day and it was a good opportunity for players to move into different positions."
