Lincoln Touch finished in third place in the fourth round of the Eastern Regional development series in St Ives on Sunday.

Lincoln narrowly lost the first match 2-1 against Bedford, with their try from captain Maksim Lema which was assisted by Emily Gourlay.

The next match saw Lincoln draw 3-3 against Bishop Stortford, with Gail Hunter scoring two tries and Flynn Smith adding one try and two assists.

Lincoln’s third match was also a tightly-fought contest against a Cambridge side featuring players from the All England squad. Lincoln secured a 1-1 draw after player/coach Rob Smith set up a try for Lema.

Lincoln went into the final game against Essex with high energy and strong driving up the field.

Tries from Eloise James, Hunter, Smith, and Gaynor Sewell who was loaned from Norwich Rebels, gave Lincoln a 4-2 win.

After the tournament Lincoln captain Maksim Lema said: “I am extremely proud of the team. We dug in and pulled off some good results after having a shaky start to the day. All players really stood up when we needed them.”
