The Lincolnshire Lancers travelled over to Norfolk to play in the Boudicca cup hosted by their good friends Iceni, which was held at Wymondham RFC.

Iceni set up an incredible day filled with teams from across the UK. Iceni set up a tournament with two pools which led into playing for the Boudicca Cup and the Andraste Cup.

The Lancers were led by captain Lauren Underdown and vice captain Will Ryland in the tournament. They spoke about positional play and tactics and brought energy and determination to the tournament.

The Lancers finished third in their pool stages, which meant they were in the running for the Andraste Cup. This lead to more games and anticipation as to who they would play for a chance to win the cup.

The Lancers had some tense, well-matched games, throwing in back doors and quickies in order to score against their opponents.

The Lancers sought subs from the hosting club Iceni, with Kit Doidge and Mac joining in the final game against Northampton Outlaws, matching their counterparts with the use of other players in the tournament.

Lancers had a great final against the Outlaws and beat them 3-2.

Will Ryland was voted MVP for the Lancers by the captains of the other teams in the tournment.

The Lancers vice captain chose Fielden Dawson as their player of the day. This was for ‘being a great player on the pitch, and taking charge as captain in the morning before handing over captaincy to Lauren...Fielden played really well, and tried loads of new tactics in the games which led to great teamwork in the squad.'

The Lancers captain chose Daniel Tantum as MVP for ‘being a really versatile player, while trying new positions and playing in their very first tournament where they scored their first tries in a competitive game. Daniel really made a great impression to everyone and on the pitch. Brooklyn Wilton also scored his first ever try for the Lancers!
