LINCOLN 3RD XV 0
NLD MERIT TABLE SOUTH EAST
BY JOSEPH VERNEY
Dave Breslin crossed for a hat-trick of tries as a depleted Lincoln 3rd XV battled hard in a 49-0 defeat at Stamford.
Lincoln were struggling for numbers when they travelled to Hambleton Road on Saturday, but Stamford lent some players to the opposition to ensure the game was able to go ahead.
Lincoln, who were captained by Paul Swaby, played with a lot of heart and determination, but Stamford proved too strong in the end with Kyle Kennington, Oli Story, Freddie Chapman and Kristian Ramsier among the other try scorers for the hosts.
After the match Lincoln’s 3rd XV team manager Tom Wilson said: “A huge thank you to Stamford 2s for hosting us - the hospitality was spot on as always.
“Despite the weather and Lincoln struggling for numbers, the game was played in fantastic spirits and really showed what social rugby is all about.
“Big shout out to the Lincoln lads who made the drive over and braved the conditions to make sure we got this game on. Your commitment really showed, and it was great to get a proper game or rugby played.
“We are looking forward to meeting Stamford again in the New Year for another cracking fixture.”
