Hello,
As we head into Christmas and the New Year, I wanted to send a message to all of our valued players, coaches, members, volunteers, parents, sponsors and staff members.
During 2022, off the pitch Lincoln Rugby Club has had many highlights, including the successful return of the annual Sportsman’s Dinner, our Rux to Tux Summer Ball and our annual Bomber 10s tournament. These big events would not have been possible without our team of amazing volunteers, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I was honoured to be awarded the Honda Volunteer of the Year 2022 - Unsung Hero award at Twickenham in October. Keep your eyes out for nomination forms early in 2023 so we can recognise more of our other amazing volunteers at Lincoln Rugby Club.
On the pitch, Mixed Touch is growing in numbers and we are delighted to announce the arrival of The Lincolnshire Lancers (an LGBTQ+ inclusive rugby team) at Lincoln Rugby Club.
All teams across the minis and juniors have had many great training sessions throughout the year and demonstrated some well contested games, showing a true dedication to rugby. Our U14s beat Long Eaton in the NLD Cup Quarter Final with a brilliant final score of 52-14, they were also selected for The October 2022 O’Neils NLD Team of the Month for demonstrating the core values of rugby which has led to improved team performance.
The club has also had particular success with 9 of our U15s lads being selected for the Leicester Tigers DPP Academy, the 9 selected will now spend the next year training with Tigers Coaches. Two of our girls have also been selected to represent NLD in the U16 and U18 girls squads.
Within our senior teams, our Imps are currently unbeaten this season which is a massive bounce back from last years lack of rugby. Our 1st XV have settled into a style of rugby in 2022 that has seen a very high success rate in the league. They are setting the blueprint for mens rugby at Lincoln for many years to come. The ladies have settled well into NC1 Midlands after being promoted, they have notched wins against established teams which truly shows they belong in the league above after their unbeaten 21/22 season.
Our Boxing Day celebrations will be back this year, our President XV vs. Chairperson XV game will kick off at 12pm with port and mince pies provided at half time. It is a completely open invite to everyone, so dust off your rugby boots and run off those pigs in blankets.
And finally, on behalf of Lincoln Rugby Club, I would like to wish all our players, coaches, members, volunteers, parents and sponsors a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! 🤶🎅🎄🏉
Yours in rugby,
Jodie Hill
