Hello, Firstly, I hope you and your families are all safe and well as we head into Christmas and the New Year.
Despite all of the previous struggles with Coronavirus, we have now been presented with a new strain of COVID-19, Omicron. Please make sure we look after each other, get vaccinated/boosted and mainly, use common sense.
Since stepping into the role of Chair of Lincoln Rugby Club in September, we have achieved some great things. Some of these things are very visible while others may be not so obvious. We could not have done this without our team of amazing volunteers, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
On the pitch, Mixed Touch is flourishing and an integral part of our club across both Junior and Senior ages. Great to see a number of them selected for national honours and representing the club on a bigger stage.
The minis and junior section were again able to host some exciting training sessions and some well contested games, including an incredible 140 girl Pitch up & Play event!
The club has also had particular success with bringingthrough a number of Colts who have made significant breakthroughs into the Senior set up. This has seen three of the current Senior Men’s players selected for the NLD U20 squad in 2022.
Senior Men’s teams are working well as an extended squad, with the First XV currently mid table and climbing. The 2nd XV are building week on week with new players joining all the time. The club is excited to see how our teams fare in 2022 as they push to play the brand of rugby we all know they are capable of.
Our Ladies team continues to go from strength to strength, ending 2021 unbeaten. They have demonstrated some excellent rugby and we are hoping the winning streak continues for them in 2022.
Unfortunately we have made the hard decision to cancel our annual Boxing Day celebration, keeping our rugby family safe must be out priority and we hope to be able to get together to celebrate and carry on a fantastic season of rugby in the New Year.
And finally, on behalf of Lincoln Rugby Club, I would like to wish all our players, coaches, members, volunteers, parents and sponsors a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Yours in rugby, Jodie Hill Chair Lincoln Rugby Football Club
